What was Echo Park artist Peter Shire doing standing in the Santa Monica Boulevard median strip in West Hollywood surrounded by a crowd, a klezmer band and rush hour traffic? This was weird, even for West Hollywood. Last night’s event between traffic lanes officially opened a display of Shire’s sculptures on the median strip. The exhibit, part of the city’s Art on the Outside program, will be visible through late November — before and after rush hour.
