Wasting time at City Hall

Echo Park community activist Christine Peters headed to City Hall Thursday to speak against a proposed cluster of towers that would rise as high as 9 stories on Temple Street. She arrived at the Planning Commission hearing room at about 11 am. But then the order of items on the agenda was changed, bumping back the Temple towers behind the nasty battle over billboards. Then the commissioners went to lunch.

After 4 p.m., more than five hours after she arrived, Peters finally testified. She got two minutes. Shortly after, the commissioners approved the project.
