• Councilman Reyes wants more rooftop recreation

    Monday, February 9, 2009

After working to turn the banks of the Los Angeles River into open green space, Councilman Ed Reyes, campaigning for reelection in March, said it’s now time to look elsewhere for available park space. Like on a roof.

“If you look at the maintenance yards of all our major facilities, whether it’s DWP or MTA, the airport, there’s a lot of wasted rooftop space, and to me we need to start looking at that not only from a social point of view, but of course, from an environmental point of view; we can start cooling down our footprint,” Reyes told the Downtown News.
