Suspects arrested in Echo Park-Silver Lake robbery spree

The LAPD has arrested four suspects in connection with some of the 10 recent street robberies in Echo Park and Silver Lake. Gang unit detective Lou Vargas, who is heading the investigation of the assaults, said this afternoon that officers arrested two adults and two juveniles believed to be responsible for a cluster of attacks in Silver Lake.

The four suspects are listed in the LAPD's database of known gang members, he said. Police have said that the attacks in Silver Lake and Echo Park against 10 men were the work of two separate gangs. Vargas said officers are still investigating the case. "We are still trying to track down witnesses."

LAist, which earlier today reported the news of two arrests, said that charges are expected to be filed Tuesday.

It's about time. Thank you, LAPD, for your work...now, pursue hate crime charges...

If you attended the meeting, then you are aware that they said at this time there is no indication that these were hate crimes in the legal sense. Still, if they caught these guys, this is very good news.

Fantastic! Glad they got em! All of this took place in my neighborhood, and I'll be glad to breath a little easier... Of course, everybody should always be aware, especially in bad economic times...

Im surprised there isnt more of this type of crime. Silverlake and echopark are both gentrifications still in progress. out with homey and in with whitey. Jesus, I was mugged three times in 6 years while living on the seedy lower east side of NCY during the early 80's. It was considered the price of doing business. is this happening in Your hood or someone elses hood that youve decided to move into. There is more to this type of crime than people would care to acknowledge. Geography, wealth, gentrifcation, and perhaps racism or hate all come into play. Lets call it like it is. My warmest regards to the victims and speedy recovery. My prayers to the perps who need better guidance. one love. dubrubble
