• Elysian Heights Elementary briefly locked down

    The school was locked down this morning after a police helicopter hovered over head and the staff could not get through to the LAPD to find out what was going on, according to one school employee. The police activity does not appear to be related to the Sunday afternoon shooting spree near the school at Echo Park Avenue and Baxter Street.

    One resident said police were in the area this morning following reports of a nearby residential burglary. LAPD could not be reached to confirm
