Los Angeles Fire Department crews put out a small-one acre brush fire that broke out at about 3 p.m. on a steep hill above Stadium Way just east of the main entrance to Dodger Stadium, according to the department’s Twitter feed. It’s the most recent small blaze reported in or near Elysian Park in recent weeks.
At least one of the fires is believed to have been set intentionally. But this afternoon’s fire appears to have been an act of negligence, possibly from fireworks, and not arson related, said LAFD investigator Michael Neu.
Neu said “we are questioning people” about the suspicious fires but the cases remain unresolved.
