What could be worse than having your car stolen on Christmas Day? How about if it was stolen in your presence and then dumped into Echo Park Lake? LAPD Det. Wes Buhrmester provides the details of the pre-dawn robbery and auto salvage project:

“At about 3:30 a.m. on December 25, a gentleman was standing
by his car in the 1000 block of Echo Park Ave., when he was approached by a suspect on foot who simulated a gun under his jacket. The suspect took the victim’s car and drove away with it. The police were called, and while one unit was taking the report, a second unit found the car partially submerged in Echo Park’s lake. If your readers see tracks leading into or out of the lake, that was the reason. There were tracks from both the vehicle, and the tow truck which winched it out of the water.”

The car must have been pretty soggy but no persons were reported injured during the incident.
