• Echo Park merchants hope showers won't keep holiday shoppers away

    Saturday, December 12, 2009

A soggy Saturday in December is bad news for merchants, especially for neighborhood shop and restaurant owners trying to steer holiday shoppers into their storefronts. But merchants in Echo Park and other Eastside neighborhoods are offering plenty of discounts and deals – and hosting parties and events – to capture the attention of shoppers before they head to the mall. Silver Lake’s Sunset Junction held a block party on Friday night. Tonight, it’s Echo Park’s turn with the first ever Echo Park Shop Hop.

Other holiday events and discounts in Echo Park:

    * Handmade and recycled holiday gifts await at Echo Park’s Feeding Birds boutique.
    * Sip some grog and munch on some chocolate while shopping for woolly sweaters & scarves at Tavin in Echo Park.
    * Music, refreshments, and free goodie bags (for the first 100 guests) at the Mohawk Swap.
