The commuters who find themselves stuck in traffic on Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park have plenty of time to enjoy a seasonal show of flowering trees planted among the strip malls, fast-food drive ins and abandoned mattresses that line the busy street. These trees are called Evergreen Pears (Pyrus kawakamii), explains Echo Park resident Michael O’Brien on the Echo Elysian Forum:
