  • The best seat to watch the Dodger home opener may not be at Dodger Stadium *

    Friday, April 9, 2010

Dodger fans who want to watch next Tuesday’s home opener from the comfort of their own home may want to consider the $399 Dodger recliner now on sale at La Popular furniture in Echo Park. Watching the game from home (or office) in front of a 42-wide flat screen will also allow fans avoid opening-day traffic snarls across Echo Park. Speaking of the home opener … The Eastsider is checking into the city’s plans to avoid a repeat of last year’s tail gate parties that left parts of Elysian Park near the stadium awash in trash *. Also, many Echo Park residents report they have yet to receive parking placards from the Dodgers that allow them to get through traffic barricades.

    * Update: A spokeswoman for Councilman Eric Garcetti said there will be “additional deployment to address neighborhood concerns” about tail gate parties and traffic but did could not provide details.

Love it! But isn't $399 a little steep? Must be the EP gentrification! :)

Noel said the placards should arrive "on or before" opening day. In an email he said I could email him my address and he'd drop some in the mail for me – which is nice but I hope the rest of the neighborhood will be able to get them in time!

First of all, loved the super tacky Dodger lounge chair! If it weren't so expensive,I'd be tempted to buy one. Unfortunately, my sense of humor only goes to $10.00! Second, how thoughtless of the apartment- and single-family home residents of Echo Park for worrying about their parking placards to park in front of their own residences (and even approach their own neighborhood by car) on Dodger Game days! Don't they realize there is a bigger issue here: how to keep the owners of the Dodgers in sufficient mansions to do the laundry/store snacks, etc. Plus, I would imagine that chauffeurs 'with privileges' cost a bundle.

My wife would kill me, and it would turn into junk really quick. I secured 4 amazing seats for opening day.

Uh, was that chair manufactured with expressed written consent from Major League Baseball?
