Storefront Report: Eagle Rock supermarket to expand into shopping center

Eagle Rock activists have and continue to devote much time to making Colorado Boulevard – the neighborhood’s main commercial street – more urban and pedestrian friendly. But suburban-style development with a big parking lot out front certainly has a lot of fans. Case in point are the plans to add new stores to the Eagle Rock Vons at Figueroa Street and La Loma Road. Up to eight store fronts would be included in a new, 14,000-square-foot wing that would stretch north from the existing supermarket across what is now an empty lot, according to plans presented in leasing information posted on LoopNet. There’s also space for a small, free-standing building at the corner of Figueroa and La Loma. Vons is asking $3,500-a-month for the 1,000-square-foot storefronts. A chief selling point: “Dense multi cultural high income area with great traffic counts.”

  1. well this sucks i was hoping to build a youth dirt jump bike park here for the community, this place is getting crowded with stores, common what about the youth !!!

  2. Turning this space into a green space or park would be great despite proximity to Mc Donalds, Colorado, and Figueroa. Could be a really cool park/space if done right. Strip mall is recipe for disaster!

  3. $3.50 / square foot? Seriously? Never happen.
