• A witness and survivor of an Echo Park shooting

    Friday, June 25, 2010

A Hollywood bartender named Adam was standing outside the Echo nightclub after a Sunday night performance when shots rang out, injuring three people.  Adam didn’t know he had been nicked by a bullet  until someone  told him he was bleeding.  Howie Stier, who publishes a blog called LegmanLA,  recorded the interview above with Adam – who Stier had interviewed for a previous story – shortly after the shooting.  Police said they are still searching for a suspect in the case.

That is a lucky, lucky dude. I’m amazed at how casually he recounts it, I mean thats about as close to death as you can get.

I had a gun put to my head by an OBS er few years ago. My kids where in Jr.high and H.S at the time, they where both Goths. Wasnt a nice feeling I was so pissed off I told the guy if your going to pull a gun on me you better shoot me, where, where wer you when they killed the kid on the corner of Kensington and Douglas (SPY). Turned out the gun guy was the dead guys older brother. I was the one who assisted the SPY’s girlfriend who was preggers at the time. Not a nice thing to see ones brain matter coming out the back of a humans head. I had nightmares for weeks. Glad to hear ur ok. Welcome to Echo Park. I still say watching Mi Vida Loca is required viewing before deciding to move to E.P…

That was an interesting story EP lady. Yep, saw Mi Vida Loca…early 90′s EP era. Grew up there in the 70′s and early 80′s, and was familiar with the OG’s of EP back then…those were also war days!

I’m feeling all you Eastsider readers who appreciate this dude beating the devil. LA Times and other media never realized the story was “there but for the grace of God go I.” I told the guy go get some lottery tix and he ran for them

How do you know he is Mexican? Being latino does not necessarily make you a Mexican.

It took him a while to realize he was shot but he knew instantly the shooter was a Mexican??? wow amazing. The description of the shooter may not be Mexican, 5’8″ or 5’9″ that’s too tall to be Mexican! If he can make assumptions so can I and everyone else right???
