  • Seeking baby daycare center

    Sunday, August 22, 2010

From a new parent named Sydney:

“We’re looking for a daycare program in the Silver Lake/Los Feliz/Echo Park/Atwater areas that accepts infants… everything I have found online is more like a preschool which accepts children 24 months and older, but unfortunately for us the economic reality is we both need to return to work a few months after our baby is born.  Thanks!”

Maybe too far east? La Casita Verde in Highland Park 323-222-7001 http://lacasitaverde.org just below the Southwest Museum Gold Line station. The same company also operates the two centers that accept infants downtown, if you happen to work in that area.

I am a child development student, and a mom, and I recently had the pleasure of visiting and doing an observation at a great daycare/preschool in Highland Park. They take children from 0-3, have a loyal following- meaning they have had siblings come back, and the children are a totally diverse group and seemed content and very happy at the center.

The director/owners name is Carline McGrue, and her sister Naomi works with her.

Sydney – did you end up finding a good daycare option? My husband and I are expecting a baby this fall and will be in the same situation, I’m hoping to find something near Silver Lake. Would you mind commenting if you have an answer? Thanks!
