Seeking baby daycare center

From a new parent named Sydney:

“We’re looking for a daycare program in the Silver Lake/Los Feliz/Echo Park/Atwater areas that accepts infants… everything I have found online is more like a preschool which accepts children 24 months and older, but unfortunately for us the economic reality is we both need to return to work a few months after our baby is born.  Thanks!”

  1. Maybe too far east? La Casita Verde in Highland Park 323-222-7001 http://lacasitaverde.org just below the Southwest Museum Gold Line station. The same company also operates the two centers that accept infants downtown, if you happen to work in that area.

  2. I am a child development student, and a mom, and I recently had the pleasure of visiting and doing an observation at a great daycare/preschool in Highland Park. They take children from 0-3, have a loyal following- meaning they have had siblings come back, and the children are a totally diverse group and seemed content and very happy at the center.

The director/owners name is Carline McGrue, and her sister Naomi works with her.

  4. Sydney – did you end up finding a good daycare option? My husband and I are expecting a baby this fall and will be in the same situation, I’m hoping to find something near Silver Lake. Would you mind commenting if you have an answer? Thanks!

Hello! I’m in the same boat as these ladies were now… needing infant care on the Eastside, Mt. Washington being furthest east since I work west … sadly, I need a day care that is open until 7 PM, due to my work hours… There seem to be almost no infant care east of Culver City… getting worried…

    • I’m also looking for infant care. Have you had any luck?

      • The closest day care accepting infants I’ve found is the Susana Wesley Children’s Center @ Glendale Methodist. They accept infants at 6 weeks. Hours are flexible, people are very nice. We will be starting there in Jan after our baby is 3 mos. Someone REALLY needs to start an infant care center in SL though… bet they would make a bundle if it was well run.
