  • Who needs a boat to sail Echo Park Lake? *

    Sunday, November 7, 2010

It’s been more than a year since  pedal boats floated across Echo Park Lake after they were put out of commission and the boathouse closed as part of a city cost-cutting move.  But the lack of boats did not stop one man from plying the lake waters Saturday afternoon – on an air mattress.  Tristan Keller, who was bike riding around the lake, used a phone to shoot a video of the man paddling his mattress past the boathouse at about 4:30 p.m.

    * Update: The sailor on the air mattress has come up with his own video, shown below, of Saturday’s voyage that was created for his website.

This is hilarious. We reposted this as well and later found the guy behind it all!

@ Kelly. Thanks for the link. The underwear on his head and the marshmallows glued to his chin are a nice touch! His video explains everything.

Awesome. This is what we should do instead of waiting for Parks & Recreation to give our boats back!

Isn’t that Napolean Dynamite’s twin brother?

I still don’t understand how the city can’t make money with boat rentals like numerous businesses all over the country do. Oh right, it’s the city.

Someone shoulda called the park police. It would have been the best ticket all year long. . .

You’re right! He does look like Napolean Dynamite’s brother. But do you think his brother would be a Highland Park resident?
