A $425,000 bungalow that recently went up for sale in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park features three bedrooms, mountain views but no off-street parking on the property. In fact, there is no street. The Cove Avenue bungalow and most of the other homes on the block between Alesandro and Alvarado streets are accessible only via sidewalk and stairway. The Redfin listing describes the section of Cove Avenue as a “private walk-street.” However, most stairway streets, like many others across Elysian Heights in Echo Park, are very much open to the public. The listing goes on to say that the two-level home is “close to Silver Lake and Echo Park restaurants and shops.” What it does not say is how close it is to your parking space.
