Snowwoman tumbles back into Elysian Park with a new look

Despite light rain, volunteers returned this morning to the Elysian Park maintenance yard to complete the park’s holiday decorations made out of tumbleweeds. The volunteers stepped in after city budget cuts left the Recreation & Parks staff without the time to building the decorations that have been a holiday tradition for several years.  The snowwoman pictured above took her spot at Academy Road and Solano Canyon Drive.  Unlike previous years when the snow men and women went apparently unclothed, the snowwoman above sports what appears to be either a green apron or ski bib in addition to some gold garland.  Either way, she looks ready for the holidays.

  1. Yay volunteers and maintenance team!!!! I’m sorry I couldn’t join you this morning, I’m sick as a dog and didn’t think it wise to “share my wealth”. She is a beauty! I can’t wait to see the others. Great job, everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  2. Bravo to the volunteers and any support people. You’ve made a nice holiday effort for the community.
