Global healing event in support of “Voices From Chornoybl”

Thea Pueschel, owner of Hypnotiq Solutions, writes about an event in support of the “Voices From Chornobyl” that took place on Sunday:

Sunday April 3, 2011 2-4pm a Global Healing Event took place at Santosha Space in Atwater Village. Hypnotiq Solutions and Santosha Space sponsored the event for  “Voices From Chornobyl”. Practitioners from various modalities donated their time and specialties for the fundraising effort.

Tickets were $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Attendees were able to sample acupressure/shiatsu with Adrienne Montoya, CMT; Hypnosis with Peter Bedard, M.A., C.Ht.; full body massage with Cat, Macary, LMT and co-owner of Santosha Space; HypnoArt with Thea Pueschel, C.Ht, kinesthetic visualist; neuro-inguistic programming with Wendy Watson, C.Ht., NLP practitioner. All proceeds raised directly benefited the theatrical play “Voices From Chornobyl.” Voices From Chornobyl (VFC) has partnered with the Chernobyl Children’s Project USA upon the 25th anniversary of this horrific nuclear event to raise awareness and money for the children whose health is still affected today play.

Cindy Marie Jenkins Atwater Village resident and community activist penned the play.  Cindy felt that the message of that the catastrophic event in Chernobyl needed to extend beyond book form, and was inspired to create a play adaptation. The effort has extended into a 5-year journey, first with an adult adaptation and now one for children’s theatre. The play has been performed through readings over the last five years. VFC teamed up with the UK Chernobyl Charities and plan for readings around the world this month to commemorate the 25th year of the disaster. The VFC team is assembling more readings, an interactive children’s script, and expanding Chernobyl awareness events to include art exhibits and on-line outreach.

If you happen to notice that Chornobyl and Chernobyl are spelled differently within this article, it is on purpose. The book is called “Voices from Chornobyl: An Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster.” Chornobyl reflects the Ukrainian spelling, and Chernobyl reflects the Russian spelling.

The participants of the Global Healing Event were able to walk away relaxed and informed. It is not too late to help the fundraising efforts for the VFC Friday April 15, 2011 there will be a Staged Reading and a Radiation Talkback at the Paul G. Gleason Theatre 6520 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90028 and Tuesday April 26th at 9pm a Reading and Radiation Talkback 3191 Casitas Ave. #114 Los Angeles, CA 90039

Nuclear disasters are a real threat, and the after effects linger for years. Chernobyl is open for tourism, but the radiation levels are estimated to be 35x higher than normal. Children are still being born with birth defects and adults are still being diagnosed with various cancers and health issues.
