It’s not every day you see horses at Sunset & Alvarado*

Perhaps they took a wrong turn off an Elysian Park trail.  Maybe they thought the El Rancho Market was in a more rural location. But how else to explain why a man, woman and young child were riding a pair of horses through the streets of Echo Park on Tuesday afternoon. It was about 2 p.m. when Rick Morton snapped the above photo of the urban equestrians at Sunset Boulevard and Alvarado Street. The horses then clomped away north on Alvarado. Morton, of course, was surprised to see horses at the intersection but was also surprised that they did not appear to attract much attention from pedestrians.

* Correction: An earlier version of this post said the horses were seen on Wednesday afternoon. That’s not right. They were seen on Tuesday afternoon.

  1. My friend and I were eating lunch @ Sage Organic Bistro yesterday (great food, by the way!) and we saw the man and the young boy ride past the window facing Logan. On my way back to Silver Lake I saw the man and the woman riding through the crosswalk at Sunset and Alvarado. Such a strange sight…. but kind of awesome.

  2. You got the day wrong. Today is Wednesday, and 2 p.m. has not yet arrived. You meant Tuesday at 2 p.m.

  3. This makes ssence to me, haven’t you all seen the price of gas lately???
