Boyle Heights’ Hollenbeck Park plays a supporting role in new music video

Echo Park Lake has been the setting for numerous new as well as old music videos. The Eastside is home to other urban lakes – including those at Belvedere Park in East Los Angeles, Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights and Lincoln Park in Lincoln Heights – but they don’t seem to get as much video play.  So, it’s refreshing to see that a recent video by New Boyz with Chris Brown takes advantage of the sloping lawns and lake at Hollenbeck Park. The video focuses on classic images  of the park – swaying palms, rippling water, ducks and vendors -  as well as the less scenic portion that sits underneath two concrete bridges that carry the 5 Freeway overhead.  Now that Hollenbeck Park has captured some music video attention,  perhaps the video crews will spend more time at Lincoln and Belvedere parks, too.

  1. Too bad it was featured in a video for a cowardly woman beater and his lame autotuned friends.
