  1. Hey NELA dwellers, how ’bout them fireworks last night? Here in the #90065 we saw more fireworks than ever in recent years. We have been living here for about 6-7 years now and last night was sheer illegal fireworks dazzlement.

  2. Yes, 90026 was out of control and the police were nowhere to be seen.

  3. @ Echo – And I was on hold with the non-emergency police line for at least 30 minutes before I gave up altogether.

  4. I saw a few cop cars circling Echo Park Lake for a while last night. They were around, but there were just so many illegal fireworks going off, I doubt they would have been able to get all the people setting them off.

  5. there were actually a lot of police in EP last night. saw about 8 or 9 cars at a house party down by Scott, there were about 5 at the lake. they were driving through the park and also patrolling around the lake and up the side streets where all the parties were going on. I took my daughter to the lake at about 9 and she was wondering why there were so many police out.

  6. I’ve been to the Rose Bowl fireworks display and here in 90042 the volume and quantity of illegal fireworks was greater. Who needs to bother with the traffic hassle when you can just watch from your front porch.

The powers that be need to step up their promos if they want to put a damper on this – like some photos or testimonials from the 12 year-old girl who had a rocket firework shoot off in her eye and explode in her head. We were really lucky that there were no fires from all the stuff that people were setting off.

  7. Yes cops, please drive around aimlessly trying to find these CRIMINALS as they commit these acts of treason known as minor ticketable offenses! What are you doing? Not wasting your time following up hundreds of calls complaining about all this noise?! On a national holiday nonetheless. Think of all the fireworks trafficking that takes place to get these weapons of mass destruction across our border! It must entail hundreds of hours, gallons of tequila and thousands of unwitting frat guys to accomplish the work of this sinister underground network of gunpowder smugglers! Start with the MS-13 as I’m sure they are the main cartel behind this serious breach in homeland security!

  8. You don’t have to smuggle the fireworks, bro. You can drive to Azusa.
