Bands and their fans have scrambled to find new venues to perform following the cancellation of this weekend’s Sunset Junction Music Festival & Street Fair, which was denied permits after failing to pay city fees.  Many of the bands have found venues as part of solo acts or in combination with other groups. Here’s a run down of the some of the Sunset Junction acts and where they ended up:

It is really exciting to see this explosion of can-do spirit and rocknroll energy. Between the many bands gigging across the Eastside and the Sunset Junction business district throwing a block party on Saturday – THIS is the true indie spirit of Silver Lake!

I’m going to support the Sunset Junction in the afternoon and then go catch my friend’s band in the evening. This humid weather is too hot for a street fair anyway.

Jennifer Teft, booker for the Satellite, said in the LA Times yesterday she “if I had known that Mckinley was such a deadbeat I would not have booked ANY bands at the festival” Us bands find that VERY hard to believe! We suggest she find another mode of employment.

    Re Jennifer Tefft:

At the final Board of Public Works meeting – which Michael McKinley skipped – there were only 2 people representing the SJ Street Fair: Ms. Tefft and the lawyer. Jennifer Tefft did not just defend the SJNA, but denounced those opposed to the fair as a “small group of HATERS”. She has not to my knowledge apologized for her poor choice of words.

Two posts from the Facebook page for Sunset Junction:

I just got this email from Flavorus Management.

As courtesy to you, we have been attempting to contact the event organizers for the last several days regarding customer refunds. Unfortunately, the event organizers have not responded to us and it seems, at this time, they are reluctant to issue any refunds for any tickets sold.
