Happening Today:

Silver Lake eucalyptus tree takes a tumble

It took a few days but a small section of Westerly Terrace near Swan Place is almost back to normal after a large eucalyptus tree came crashing down on Sunday morning, knocking out power lines, damaging a parked car and coming to rest only a few feet from the home of Casey Revkin, who provided the accompanying photos.  No one was hurt from the collapse that took place only a few days  after a motorist in Costa Mesa was killed by a falling eucalyptus. Power was restored within a few hours but the street was partially blocked for a few days as the tree, which was located in a backyard, was cut up and hauled away, Casey said. It’s not clear why the Silver Lake tree fell. Only a small pile of fragrant stumps remained by the side of the street earlier today.
