Materials & Application in Silver Lake will host an opening reception for one of its most ambitious projects ever. “Bloom,” a “thermo-bimetallic” shade structure composed of 14,000 metallic pieces, changes shape in response to the sunlight (Let’s home there is a break in the clouds this weekend). Meanwhile, in Echo Park, Machine Project has turned its Alvarado Street storefront inside out, creating a “Storefront Plaza” that makes its debut on Saturday.
There are plenty of other art events this weekend, including the 19th Annual Arroyo Arts Collective Discovery Tour and the opening of a show featuring the work of artist John Souza. Eagle Rock will celebrate its centennial with a gala party, and there will be a holiday bazaar and scholarship fundraiser in Elysian Valley. More to do in Save the Date.
