Daniela Gerson of Echo Park wanted to try something different for a Hanukkah party. How about replacing traditional latkes with sugar-dusted churros, she asked L.A. Weekly food columnist Jonathan Gold. That was a “brilliant” idea, said Gold, who suggested a few of his favorite churro outlets, including Mama’s Churros in El Sereno and Mr. Churro on Olvera Street. But when it comes to the freshest churros, Gold recommended the Salinas Churro truck, which seems to be permanently parked at the corner of Echo Park Avenue and Sunset Boulevard. Said Gold:
The best churro is the freshest churro, and Salinas churros are always crisp, hot and delicious.
$1 buys you an oily paper bag with three mini churros.
