The Supernova Cheer Team, composed of girls ages 10 to 15, has been practicing at City Terrace Park in East Los Angeles. Late last month, The Supernovas traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Jamz National Championship – one of the largest cheer competitions – and returned to East Los Angeles with a first place trophy, said Marisa Barajas, who serves on the board of the team. Barajas called the First Place finish a “joyous and eventful moment” that has been a decade in the making. She wanted to share news of the victor and a little more about The Supernova Cheer Team:

The program has been running for nearly 10 years now and in that time we have had over 100 different young people use the social hall facility to learn the elements, techniques and dance to perform for our cheer team. There are however many expenses connected with running this program and we rely for funding solely on our own fundraising events and the support of family and friends.

We are very proud of our achievements and the hard work of people associated with the team. The great support and help of the parents, staff, and the coaches Tania and David their dedication and great influence.
