Echo Park stops for Al Pacino

Motorists driving down Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park this morning might be forced to come to an abrupt stop for a few moments  as a movie starring Al Pacino and Christopher Walken is being shot at the Brite Spot restaurant. While Echo Park residents are accustomed to all manner of film, TV and video shoots, the sight of Pacino and Walken pacing up and down Sunset Boulevard in front of Pazzo Gelato and the Citibank branch has people doing double-takes.  “Al Pacino is in Echo Park!!!!!!” said a Twitter user named Sandy Cheeks.

The Brite Spot has been closed for several days for the filming of “Stand Up Guys,” a film about a pair of aging criminals that stars Pacino, Walken and Alan Arkin. No word when the Brite Spot will reopen but maybe the menu will make room for a Pacino Panini as a film shoot reminder.

  1. It looks like their base camp is in the parking lot of Mayberry Street School.

  2. I saw him from Pazzo Gelato over my bagel. It reminded me of a story I had heard a long time ago that he came back to set after a long weekend break without washing his thick camera make-up off. Looked like he hadn’t for a good decade…

  3. more cowbells!

  4. The Brite Spot will re-open on Thursday. Sources say, there were no special Pacino Paninis consumed.

  5. Of course they’re closed when I’m craving a red velvet cupcake.

  6. I saw the filming as I drove to work yesterday and I even had a feeling something cooler than usual was going on. Wish I could have seen them.
