Firefighters snuff out brush fire near Elysian Heights

Firefighters this afternoon quickly put out a grass fire that burned less than an acre near Stadium Way and the 5 Freeway.  The slow moving blaze that broke out in thick brush around 2 p.m. took about 40 minutes to extinguish, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Silver Lake cleans up

Amgen Tour of California: That was quick

Champion cyclists from around the world raced down Sunset Boulevard through Silver Lake and Echo Park this morning during the last leg of the Amgen Tour of California.  The pack of riders, which were headed to Downtown Los Angeles after starting in Beverly Hills, glided quickly on Sunset Boulevard, which had been closed off to traffic for a few hours. ...
