Storefront Report: New Echo Park audio center makes money from music making

In recent years several Echo Park business have opened to satisfy the needs of a large community of musicians and music lovers. Bedrock L.A. rents recording studios and offers instrument repair, The Fretted Frog sells a wide selection of acoustic guitars and Rewind specializes in vintage audio equipment. Now, on the far eastern edge of Echo Park and Angeleno Heights, a new and ambitious audio retail and recording studio is opening up. The grey building at the corner of Sunset Boulevard at Boylston Street, up the street from Club Bahia, is now home to Vintage King Audio and Infrasonic Mastering Studio.

Inside, Vintage King Audio, which caters to professional musicians and engineers, operate a showroom stocked with music recording gear from pre amps and mixers to consoles and equalizers. Need a microphone? Step into the Mic Locker to test 30 professional-quality mikes. Vintage King Audio, which is open by appointment, also includes specialized rooms to test speakers and other recording equipment.

Meanwhile, the Infrasonic Sound Recording Company, an East L.A.-based music studio and label, is preparing for the July 18 opening of its mastering studio in the same building, according Sonic Scoop. The new facility, according to Sonic Scoop, will “host events, seminars, and product launches.”

  3. Are they finally finished constructing? I live in that house next (or above?) to them and my god, I have spent my mornings listening to the fine tunings of BAM BAM BAM… SRRR PLSSHSLPSSHHHH…

    The place looks gnarly though!
