Eastside Shopper & Diner Report: Brite Spot patio opens; investing in vegetarian cafe futures

Just in time for an expected heat wave,  the Brite Spot in Echo Park has completed a new outdoor dining room on a portion of its parking lot.  The Brite Spot owners are not shy about colors, with orange chairs and black and white umbrellas set against teal blue  walls.

In other Eastside Shopper & Diner news:

  • Goodby pupusas, hello ramen. Silver Lake Ramen  has opened in a former Sunset Boulevard pupuseria, reports Squid Ink. “Simple straightforward” ramen and some sushi are being served up in a minimalist setting.
  • Do you believe Elf Cafe will be in business next year? Then you might want to invest in Elf Futures being issued by the Echo Park vegetarian restaurant.  The gift certificates will be on sale through Oct. 31 and can be redeemed after Jan. 1, 2013 for twice as much of the face value. (A $25 certificate will buy you a $50 meal next year). Echo Park Now & Zagat
