Endeavour watching from Echo Park and beyond

From the hills of Echo Park and Montecito Heights and parking lots of Dodger Stadium, residents aimed their cameras and mobile phones skyward early this afternoon to capture shots of Endeavour as the space shuttle took a piggy back ride on a jumbo jet across Los Angeles this afternoon before landing at LAX.  Photographer Martin Cox of Echo Park captured the shot  above of Endeavour and its entourage with the former Queen of Angels Hospital in the foreground. Meanwhile, in Montecito Heights, Martha Benedict photographed the shuttle flying low over Flat Top hill.  At Dodger Stadium, baseball fans who had lined up to buy tickets were joined by Endeavour watchers, including Stephen Stickler of Angeleno Heights, who snapped the photo below as the  shuttle swung by the ballpark.

The shuttle caused quite a stir at Elysian Heights Elementary. “All the Elysian Heights students were going crazy when they saw it pass thru during their lunch recesses,” said Emmanuel Emak Gutierrez on The Eastsider Facebook page.

In Highland Park,  Patch reporter David Fonseca  tweeted:

I just saw the shuttle fly over my office on York Boulevard in Highland Park! I AM SO HAPPY!!!

    I couldn’t get out to see the endeavor passing over echo park area and really appreciate all the great shots from friends & neighbors & The Eastsider for displaying them.

  4. to those of you who got these great shot from my hometown of Echo Park I Thank You for the Beautiful Pictures, and a Special Thank You to the person who took the picture from Baxter Street…it made me proud, for I grew up on Baxter Street there in Echo Park…..
