Explosions? Sirens? Burning pick-up truck? What happened on a Silver Lake street last night?

Jeremy, a Silver Lake resident who lives on Apex Street near Glendale Boulevard, was awakened at 3:40 a.m. by what sounded like explosions and gunfire followed by sirens and helicopters. Said Jeremy via email:

“There’s a totally burned out pickup truck on Apex off Glendale by the intersection with Cove. Surrounding cars, trees, trash cans etc all melted. The ‘gunshots’ may have been popping sounds from things burning”

What happened? The watch commander at the Northeast Division this morning had no information about the burned out pick-up truck but said there had been no reports of any shootings overnight.

  1. I live over on Cove and heard all this commotion too. It was very strange. Within minutes of the pops and booms, a helicopter appeared to respond by circling overhead. How can the Northeast Division have no reports of what happened?

  2. LAPD Northeast division is unfortunately a joke!
