Found: Two-foot long Echo Park lizard

Submitted by A. White

We spotted what looks like a monitor lizard about 2 feet long in our backyard. We live on Lake Shore Ave. in Echo Park. It was very docile and we think it might be someone’s lost pet. He’s still roaming our yard but kind of elusive! Please email lostlizardep@gmail.com for more info.

  1. Put on gloves and try to catch it. When it gets cold they can’t survive.
I have a friend who can find a home for it.
I found a Bearded Dragon on Cerro Gordo.
My Boy friend maddened get rid of it. Best pet ever!!!!

  2. He was living on Lemoyne St. for a few weeks. I don’t think it’s a monitor lizard but a very old alligator lizard who has managed to keep his tail intact.

  3. Wow.. so thats what that was! My dogs had this poor fella/gal trapped under our deck last week..I think it was Thursday. When they were removed, this big ole lizard scurried up into the brush at the top of our very deep back yard. My son took a picture, and it was exactly this same lizard. I do hope he/she is managing. We have a lot of fallen apples, tomatoes, various greens that might be good lizard food. And room under the deck, or even under the house, if warmer. We live on Vestal, between Avalon and Baxter. Yay for the lizzard!!
