Eastside Guide:

Hermon’s Clean Team Welcomes a new mascot

Midnight was a Chow-Lab mix whose owner, Alex,  would bring her to the monthly  Hermon community clean ups, where she  enjoyed a bite of a doughnut as members of the Hermon Clean Team prepared to put their brooms and shovels into action. But after suffering some medical complications, Midnight died early last year, leaving the Hermon Clean Team without a furry mascot. A few months back, however, the Hermon Clean Team welcomed a new mascot, Middy. Hermon activist Wendi Riser provides some details from the All Things Hermon newsletter:

You may recall that last year, dear Midnight, a beautiful Chow-Lab mix who — after years of loyally following owner Alex in cleaning Via Marisol every month, and after a long and happy life — gently passed away. So when a few months ago, Alex came to Saturday “Clean Team” followed happily by a new, shorter version of Midnight named “Middy” (who Alex had rescued) – we couldn’t stop smiling.

Middy will be present this morning amid brooms and shovels, and doughnuts, as the Hermon Clean Team gathers at 8 a.m. for its monthly clean up. The group meets in the parking lot of Monterey Donuts at Monterey Plaza.
