Meet me at Taix Square

The City Council today approved a motion to honor Taix French Restaurant by naming the intersection in front of the Echo Park restaurant “Taix Square.”  The ceremonial signs will be installed at Sunset Boulevard and Park Avenue as the family-owned Taix restaurant celebrates its 85th anniversary, 50 of them in Echo Park (the original restaurant opened in downtown).   No word yet if the city will also be honoring other long-time Echo Park restaurants by naming intersections Brite Spot Plaza, Pizza Buona Place and Barragans Crossroads.

  1. A Barragans crosswalk might save the most (inebriated) lives.

  2. Congrats Taix! Here’s to the next 100 years!

  3. Wow.Amazing Taix restaurant has made it through rough times n still here, even though they have non attractive signs nice congrats to them. Also barragan’s crossroads has been in echo park for an unexpected time ,a place where fights n stabbings happen but hey It’s still there good for them .The brite spot has changed ,a place where u will deff have a gay encounter which is not rare anymore will deff make u feel safe but the place has also survived some years n different ownership.Pizza buona place , a more diverse place great social n relaxing place congrats to all for surviving these tough times..peace to all.Fans feel free to correct me.

  4. Since when is a section of pedestrian-unfriendly, car-prioritized 4 lane roadway a “square”?

  5. If I have dinner there it will go outa biz overnite. I hav that touch.

    • Too many of us locals (pre 1970′s) that have dinner /lunch here and support TAIX , that it will never go out of business.
Good luck with that “newbie” .

  6. What a coincidence; there’s a small internet cafe on the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria that just renamed itself “Taix Square” as a tribute to one of the restaurant’s elderly employees.

    (Was that insensitive?)

  7. Taix was one of the first places I dined when I moved to LA in 1965. So glad it’s still here and it so appropriate that LA City Council would honor it with “Taix Square”. Bon Appetit!

  8. 85th anniversary!
