If you’ve ever wanted to know what goes into creating a museum quality bronze sculpture, or would like to put your hand to something with real staying power, our Small Sculptures Workshops are the perfect opportunity to get intimate with some molten bronze – and make your very own bronze creation. Starting October 13th, Arts Refoundry will hold our Small Sculptures Workshop on the Second Saturday of every month – with one extra, pre-holiday date Nov. 3.
For $150, participants will experience the foundry in action with a live bronze pour and foundry demo. We’ll then sit down in the foundry to create our own fist-sized* sculptures in wax. Original bronze castings will be available for pickup at the following month’s workshop.
Sculpting experience is welcome – but not necessary. We’ve had participants of all ages and levels of experience come and make great things. Check out our Flickr page to see some of the wonderful and surprising sculptures created in our previous workshops: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjz87hup
Workshops run from 9 a.m. – 1 p. m. and are limited to ten participants. Breakfast snacks and coffee are served.
Nestled amongst the eclectic group of welding studios, costume shops, furniture makers and Burning Man devotees at Big Art Labs in Lincoln Heights, Arts Refoundry is a family-run art foundry specializing in bronze fine art castings, and devoted to making the casting process and experience accessible to everyone.
Arts Refoundry is located at 651 Clover Street, Los Angeles, CA 90031.

*Fist-sized is a general guideline. We give all participants a measured amount of sculpting wax equivalent to a pound of bronze with which to make a single sculpture.
