Councilman Huizar endorses Greuel for Mayor

Jose Huizar/Council District 14

Councilman Jose Huizar has endorsed controller Wendy Greuel for  mayor over fellow councilman Eric Garcetti.  Huizar, whose 14th council district stretches from  Eagle Rock and Highland Park to Boyle Heights and El Sereno, was part of a list of Latino leaders who have come out for Greuel as she runs against Garcetti, a Silver Lake resident and Council District 13 representative,  and other candidates.   In a press release issued by Greuel, Huizar said:

“I worked with Wendy on the City Council and whether it was making the City more business friendly or fixing our streets, she has shown that she knows how to get Los Angeles back on track.”

Meanwhile, the Eastside’s other Latino councilman, Ed Reyes, whose First Council District  includes Cypress Park and Lincoln Height as well as Angeleno Heights and portions of Westlake,  has not yet said who he will endorse for mayor, said spokeswoman Monica Valencia. “Councilmember Reyes has not announced an endorsement and likely won’t until closer to the election date.”

  1. Garcetti is a corrupt sell-out to the developers and the landlords. He has never seen over-development he is not in favor of. Just look at his campaign donor list — its about 75% developer money! He is completely up for sale and sold out.

If you are fighting a big development, you will not get any truth or facts form him about where he stands, because he is not going to tell you he is just a shill for the developers. He will quietly make sure their project goes through.

  2. This is nothing more than payback for Grueul looking the other way on the CLARTS Fund. This is a fund set up by former Councilman Nick Pacheco for community projects – nearly 4 million a year. Huizar followed Antonio’s example and gutted this fund for his personal agenda – millions of dollars for very high staff salary. When the community made an issue of this Huizar ignored requests for public disclosure and Wendy looked the other way while making city hall waste and issue. Huizar won’t be able to get the Latino vote for her so I guess the joke is on Wendy.
