Fundraiser to support library and literacy at Elysian Heights school

Budget cut backs have left Elysian Heights Elementary without staff to maintain the school library or buy new books. Now, in an effort to re hire a library aide and support other literacy programs, the Friends of Elysian Heights Elementary School is hosting a Lotería Social and Auction fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 1.

“We are aiming to be able to buy new books, and, if we can make enough, to purchase back the position of Library Aide, said Loteria Social & Auction chairperson Rebecca M. Mazel.

The Lotería Social & Auction will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at The Echo in Echo Park. Events include an afternoon of DJ’d music, Loteria games called by local actor René Rivera, hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails by VeeV VitaFrute, beer and soft drinks, and silent auction. Kids who come will view the holiday movie “Elf” with Will Farrell and have popcorn. Kids will be able to play Loteria too!

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Click here for event details and prices.
