The body of a man was found early this morning in a Historic Filipinotown alley immediately south of Silver Lake.   The victim, described as a male black in his 20s or 30s, suffered a bullet wound to the chest and was declared dead at the scene, said Sgt. Michael Mabie with the Rampart Division.  Officers were called to an alleyway near Benton Way and the 101 Freeway at about  6:15 a.m. and found firefighters at the scene, Mabie said.  No suspects were in custody.

  1. Isn’t this the same spot that a teenage girl was shot and killed awhile back, maybe a year and half ago? No bueno.

  2. yes, at benton & the 101. lovely area.

  3. Stand by for more of this! I talked to some police officers the other day about crime in the area. I guess crime was up, by the police department heads got rid of some units that suppress these types of things and sent them all back to handle calls. They said since that change there has been more crime and murders are up. I called northeast police station and they said that this was the brain storm of the mayor and a deputy chief. So now what? I think if things weren’t broke, don’t fix them.
