A magnitude 3.3  quake centered in the ocean about nine miles west of Manhattan Beach struck at 6:39 p.m., according to preliminary readings from the U.S. Geological Survey. Although relatively small, the underwater quake was felt in Eagle Rock, where one resident reported a “quick shaking.”
