First Council District candidate Jose Gardea today picked up the endorsement of Jose Huizar, who represents the neighboring 14th District.  Gardea currently serves as Chief of Staff to First District Councilman Ed Reyes, who is termed out of office.  Gardea is running against State Asssemblyman Gil Cedillo and Jesse Rosas to represent the First Council District, which includes Angeleno Heights, Cypress Park and Mt. Washington.

“Jose Gardea grew up in the First District and has a 20-year history of working with local neighborhoods,” Huizar said in a statement. “He has experience, integrity and a real commitment to serve these communities, many of which abut my own district. He will be a strong leader who knows how to get things done for the residents of the First District.”

Cedillo, meanwhile, has been endorsed by several city council members, including Tom LaBonge of the Fourth Council District, as well as L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca.

The First Council District election is scheduled for March 5.

  1. LaBonge for Cedillo…can you say Autry Museum?

….at least we know Huizar and Reyes support the Southwest Museum. Am assuming/hoping Gardea does as well…Sacramento Gil in alliance with Tom LaBonge worries me. We all know where LaBonge stands on this issue. And we all know Sacramento!!
