“Unmoderated: Readings from the Eastsider LA.com comments section” from Rory Mitchell on Vimeo.
The lounge at Taix restaurant in Echo Park was packed Saturday afternoon to hear a group of actors lend their voices to a sampling of Eastsider reader comments covering everything from murder and gentrification to abandoned couches and the correct spelling of Silver Lake (two words, please). Many thanks to all of those who showed up for Unmoderated: A Reading of Eastsider Comments as well as to the actors and director Rory Mitchell for bringing our comments section to life.

The video above features the comments from a post titled “Sooner or Later, Every Empty Space in Los Angeles Becomes a Parking Lot.”
Great event!! Hope you have many more readings.
I’m certain I was the star of the show as MY comments are always brilliant.
Yeah, I’d like to know if any of my comments were used. By the way, how’s the Taix waitress doing – the older woman who lost her life savings to an overseas scammer?
Tony works on weekdays. go in and give her a big tip:)
couldn’t go. I really hope some of this ends up on youtube.
Yep, sadly we missed it as well. I second that Youtube nomination! Eastsider, please let us know if and when this is posted on the ‘Tube!
Sorry I had to miss
I’m glad I didn’t miss it! It was one of the funniest and truly endearing pieces of “theater” I’ve ever seen here in beautiful Echo Park. I recognized one of my comments, too. It was innocuous at best. Please, please make this a monthly event at Taix! You’re certainly not lacking in material.
They’re mocking us, aren’t they?
And how!
We all earned it. And a good laugh at ourselves is good for the soul.
