Debs Park runners face an uphill challenge*

Photos by Martha Benedict

Runners in today’s 4-Mile Hill Challenge in Debs Park take on the first of many hills in the photo above by Martha Benedict. Her take on the run:

There was an amazing diversity of participants, particularly in ages. There were a few seniors down to the final finisher in the Kiddie-K who is 19 months old–she has only been walking the last four! The fifth finisher in the main race was female. One runner–Mary-Austin Klein–ran with her dog.

The runners’ times will be posted on the website of  Aztlan Athletics of South Pasadena, which organized the event in collaboration with the Audubon Center at Debs Park and many generous sponsors. Montecito Heights CERT team was on hand to render first aid

Warm- up rituals.

Next generation runner.

Yet another hill.

Four-legged runner and owner.

You are never to young to run.
