Shopper & Diner Report: “Vintage Mall” opens in Los Feliz; Atwater awaits the $8 glass of juice
- Time to hit the mall – the vintage mall. That’s the term being used to describe a group of vintage dealers and vendors who have taken over three storefronts at the corner of Sunset and Hollywood boulevards in Los Feliz. The Vintage Vortex is carved up into 20 spaces devoted to everything from vintage apparel and accessories to industrial furniture and original artwork. Open Tuesday- Sunday 12 p.m. -7 p.m., closed Mondays.
- Ready for Filipino-style desert? Stop by the Crème Caramel booth at the Sunday Atwater Village Farmers’ Market. Inspired by a family recipe, owner Kristine de la Cruz came up with her own take of crème caramel, “a delectable French-Filipino hybrid with touches of a Filipino dessert called leche flan,” said the Daily Trojan. Other favorites include caramelized bread pudding and a purple-yam filled Upside Down Ube Pie.
- A former Atwater Village optometrist office is being converted into a new juice bar, reports Atwater Village Now. The Juice on Glendale Boulevard will sell daily specials of cold-pressed organic juices and vegan smoothies. Top quality organic ingredients don’t come cheap, so expect to pay $8 for a 16-ounce glass of juice.
