Home surveillance video leads to arrest of Angeleno Heights burglary suspect

Police today arrested a man suspected of attempting to break into an Angeleno Heights home earlier this month after a resident recognized him from a surveillance video that was posted on The Eastsider and other websites.

The 36-year-old man was arrested in front his home in the 1100 block of Sunvue Place, said Detective Mario Mota with the Rampart Division. “The suspect, a male Hispanic, 36 years of age, and living in the area for 25 years, identified himself from the video and still images,” said Mota via email.

Mota and another officer made the arrest about two hours after they received an anonymous tip from a resident who was certain that the man in the video lived in the 1100 block of Sunvue Place. The officers went to the location and observed the male depicted in the video hanging out in front of his residence. He was arrested without incident.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and on an outstanding burglary warrant, Mota said His bail is set at $110,000.

  1. Apparently this guy didn’t stray too far from home to commit his crimes. I guess he never heard the saying, “don’t sh** where you eat.”

  2. Thank you East Sider for posting the video!!!

  3. Very very cool. Than you eastsider! FOX, CBS, NBC and ABC F**K OFF! We don’t need your help anymore you dinosaurs…

    • Why are you disrepecting all our major broadcasting networks? You are quick to blare off out the mouth huh! I guess it is all that oestrogen bottled up. And I think you owe an apology to the family of the person you commented on, as for the guy that got killed at waterloo and clinton. If I was you I would be ashamed and change my name or just crawl back into your little shell. Good thing I didn’t catch this creep, I would have thrown him on your door step. Oh, the creep in this article if you don’t understand what I meant. You are on about the same level beanteam!

  4. Too cool for words as this guy could have been a rapist creep.

  5. This is great news, and all thanks to TheEastsiderLA for posting this video!

  7. Nice Work LAPD and Neighbors!!!!!!

  8. Great news! This video had me totally creeped out. From the description of the perp, I have to wonder if the guy is all there, mentally.

  9. He’ll be released soon due to overcrowding at the jails. He’ll be back to his old tricks.

    • According to detectives the burglar already had a warrant for his arrest. Hopefully, this case sends him away for a while.

  10. What is his name? Why is bail so low? Tell us more.

  11. Sunvue always sketched me out.
