Storefront Report: New Sunset Junction shop trades in bohemian aesthetic

Bucks & Does opened in mid May/Bucks & Does

Soon after Pull My Daisy, one of Sunset Junction’s pioneering boutiques closed down at the end of March, work quickly began on transforming the Sunset Boulevard storefront into the new Silver Lake home of Bucks & Does, a  new casual clothing and accessories store for men and women.  The exterior is now painted a bold shade of blue while the inside has been divided into a bright retail space upfront and a sample/design studio in the back, complete with a yurt (every Silver Lake bohemian has got to have one) that acts as an office, said Laura O’Dell, who owns the store with her husband Jason.

“Our focus is on contemporary women’s and mens clothing, shoes and accessories with a colorful bohemian aesthetic,” O’Dell said of the store, which opened in mid May. “What sets us apart from other shops in the Junction is our eclectic mix of designers as well as our own brand (Porridge) which we have been designing and manufacturing now for over 10 years.”

While the O’Dells have a background in  in design and manufacturing,  this is the first time the Silver Lake couple have operated a store. “We always knew that if we opened up a store it would be in the heart of Sunset Junction,” she said.
