Someone stole your catalytic converter?

You got company.  Thieves have stolen at least six catalytic converters from trucks and cars in the last two weeks in the southern section of Echo Park and other parts of the Rampart Division, said Detective Carlos Silva.

The Rampart Division has issued a Community Alert to raise awareness of the thefts and possibly catch the thieves, who can saw off and steal the converters in less than a minute.   While the thieves can sell the catalytic converters   for about $150 for scrap metal, the owners can face costly repair bills.

  1. come on, dudes. Just go get a real job already. Quit mucking with hard working people.

  2. Happened to me in Silver Lake last year. They stole my car and ditched it in Echo Park. I had to sell my car to pay for the cost of fixing it all up.

  3. This area is going through hell right now. There’s a major tagging war going on. People end up walking to this area from downtown lock up because everyone is getting out of jail early. Some of them have connections here, so they are staying with friends and relatives because they have no where else to go. No jobs, no rehabs. And people dump their trash all around the old Rampart Police station. It was just cleaned up last week, and I’m afraid it’s already a dumping ground again. There’s security guards inside the compound, to control the taggers, but security guys don’t seem to care about the trash all around the big ass security fence they’ve put up. It’s a big mess. We are on our own it seems. It really sucks.

  4. Happed to me last week in highland park and it was in front of my house on a well lit street. It was great!
