Police searching for burglary suspects in Echo Park

Police cars on Lemoyne Street/Echo Park resident

Police have blocked off Echo Park Avenue this afternoon as they conduct a search for burglary suspects.  Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a burglary on Lemoyne Street but officers are making sure there are no other suspects in the area, according to an officer at the Northeast Division station. He said there has been no shooting.

One resident said she saw two men being arrested in the 1600 block of Lemoyne Street south of Effie.

Police had blocked Echo Park Avenue north of Morton Avenue during the search.

  1. Yup. I am on Lucretia not too far from Valeries and a guy running away from Lemoyne jumped into my neighbor’s yard and then my yard and then hopped into the yard next door and probably worked his way up through yards as he tried to escape. I had cops outside the front of my house for an hour, just watching everything. The police chopper has been out for two hours and the street is sealed and no one can leave. Clearly there is one more suspect on the loose. When I went into my backyard to look around, I found a small bag of pot that the burglar must have dropped during his escape. Worst part? Bunk weed! LOL! I love Echo Park, just edgy enough to make it fun! Arf.

  2. Just saw the LAPD helicopter fly due west. Is Echo Park now open to residents at least?

  3. My housemate said he ran down the path into our yard, too, police searched under the house, but he must’ve hopped the fence. if he hopped the south side fence, he’d have been able to get through to Lucretia, which works with what the first commenter said.

  4. Losers. Can’t earn their stuff, so they have to steal it from hard working people. Theives.. down near the bottom of the evolutionary chain.
