East L.A. gets iced

Treading carefully on East L.A. snow/C.J. Salgado

By C.J. Salgado

Never mind that it was  warm and sunny in East Los Angeles on Saturday, one corner of the East L.A. Civic Center resembled a snowy mountain community. Dozens of kids played in the “snow,” tossed  snowballs and slid down a little hill.  Besides, the snow, there was plenty of good eats, Latin music, and fun rides as part of East L.A. On Ice.  The event continues today, with an ice skating rink and free skate rentals until 9 p.m.

  1. This is very cool! I bet this is the first time most of those kids have ever seen snow in real life. Really great of Molina, Gonzalez, and all others involved to make it happen.
