Detectives with the L.A. County Sheriff Department tonight were investigating the fatal shooting of a male juvenile in East Los Angeles. The shooting took place at about 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Fraser Street near Whittier Boulevard, according to preliminary information released by the department. The victim died after being transported at a hospital. There was no information available about the suspects or the cause of the shooting.
* Update: Police said a second male juvenile was also shot but he survived what maybe a gang-related shooting. The two victims and another male, who was not injured, were standing outside a home when a gunman emerged from an SUV and opened fire, according to a LASD update. “The suspect returned to the SUV and the vehicle sped away westbound through an adjacent alley and out of view.”
The three males who came under fire are believed to be between the ages of 16 and 18.
