- A man found an envelope filled with $168 in cash inside a restroom stall at Echo Park Lake on Friday as part of the ongoing @HiddenCash scavenger hunt, according to L.A. Now. A horde of people looking for the envelope swarmed the park, which did not go over well with some residents. “This madness took a heavy toll on the park, designated ‘habitat areas’ bark torn off trees, nesting areas trounced, people searching in private front gardens over looking the lake, tromping down succulents a revolting cash mad scorched earth scavenger fest,” said one man who lives by the lake.
- The City of Glendale is giving the public more time to comment on a proposal to expand the Scholl Canyon Landfill north of Eagle Rock, where residents are concerned about an increase in traffic and pollution as a result of the plan. The public comment period, which was set to expire May 30, has been extended 15 days after L.A. Councilman Jose Huizar called for an extension.
- Police on Friday afternoon sealed of a section of Highland Park near El Paso and Avenue 49 after officers began chasing a suspected auto vehicle thief who fled on foot. The suspect was apprehended.
- A protest march is scheduled to take place on Sunday afternoon in Echo Park. What’s the protest about? Civil rights? Immigrant rights? Nope. It’s about the TV black-out of Dodger games.
